Sustainable packaging solutions brought to Prosweets by ULMA Packaging

As in many sectors, the sweet, biscuit and chocolate industry is facing a challenging market that demands increasingly sustainable packaging and safer products.

PLASTIC-FREE PRIMARY PACKAGING

For several years, at ULMA Packaging we have been developing sustainable packaging solutions as part of our #ULMAweCare project.

With #ULMAweCare, our aim is to continue transitioning from the linear economy to the circular economy, mitigating the overall impact of plastic packaging, while also maintaining preservation properties and avoiding food waste.

In line with our strategy, at Prosweets we will be displaying paper primary packaging as an alternative to traditional plastic packaging.

DOUBLE LABEL SYSTEM AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO SECONDARY PACKAGING

The packaging line includes equipment that bundles together primary packaging using a double label system, thus avoiding the usual secondary packaging.

This system, which uses paper labels, provides the solutions with highly appealing characteristics, in terms of sustainability. Both the primary packaging and the labels that are affixed to bundle packs together are made of paper, so the waste can be recycled in a conventional paper recycling circuit.
