Automation and Efficiency: Discover Our Innovations at IBA 2025

Mar 25, 2025
The world of bakery and pastry is evolving, and at ULMA Packaging, we are ready to make a difference at IBA 2025. From May 18 to 22 at Messe Düsseldorf, we will present a new generation of packaging solutions designed to address the industry's current challenges: increased automation, greater flexibility, and enhanced sustainability, all while maintaining maximum production efficiency.

This year, we are bringing technologies to IBA that optimize every stage of the process—from high-speed wrapping machines to automated lines with boxing and palletizing solutions—all designed to reduce time, minimize waste, and facilitate operators’ work. Additionally, we will showcase how incorporating recyclable materials and advanced sealing and forming technologies can achieve the perfect balance between sustainability and profitability.

For customers seeking maximum versatility in formats with optimized packaging costs, our Flow Pack packaging machine offers an efficient solution for tortilla packaging, combining precision, speed, and adaptability. These machines stand out for their ability to provide a wide variety of resealable packaging options, improving product preservation and enhancing the consumer experience. Available options include:

  • Adhesive sealing in either the longitudinal or transverse direction of the package
  • Zipper sealing in either the longitudinal or transverse direction of the package

Additionally, modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) technology with longitudinal zipper sealing extends product freshness, ensuring practical and functional packaging without compromising quality. This is an ideal solution for those looking to optimize their packaging process with maximum flexibility and efficiency.

Automated Line for Packaging Burger Buns with Automatic Crate Packing

We will also present a fully automated solution for packaging and boxing burger buns, designed to maximize efficiency, reduce manual handling, and ensure a more sustainable and secure process.

This line features two key technologies:

ARTIC Flow Pack Wrapping Machine:
A high-performance and versatile system capable of packaging buns using a fiber-based sustainable film, reducing plastic use and aligning with market demands for sustainability and eco-design. Its advanced technology guarantees high-quality sealing and optimal product protection, maintaining freshness and presentation.

High-Flexibility Automatic Cartoner:
This system allows for configuring different types and formats of plastic crates, adapting to various production needs. It also enables customizable packaging arrangements, optimizing crate space usage and ensuring efficient handling. Thanks to its advanced automation, manual intervention is minimized, improving traceability and ensuring a continuous and precise production flow.

High-Speed and Versatile Frozen Bun Packaging

Lastly, ULMA Packaging’s equipment lineup will include a high-speed vertical wrapping machine designed for the efficient packaging of frozen buns. This machine stands out for its exceptional versatility, as it can handle various types of film (LDPE, BOPE, laminates…) without requiring a sealing jaw change, reducing adjustment times and improving efficiency. Additionally, it incorporates a tilting forming tube system that facilitates easy replacement and cleaning. With advanced Industry 4.0 functionalities, the VTC 840 offers enhanced precision, connectivity, and real-time monitoring, optimizing production and ensuring a reliable and efficient solution for the frozen bakery and pastry industry.
